Chlamydia trachomatis is an obligate intracellular bacterial pathogen,
one of three species of bacteria in the genus Chlamydia. C. trachomatis is a
Gram negative, reddish look under the microscope after stained with Gram stain.

contain glycogen. Generally sensitive to sulfonamides. In humans can cause

Pathogenesis
Chlamydia evolved through several stages. Start with the
infectious elementary body, spherical with a diameter from 0.2 to 0.4 microns,
has a core and a number of ribosomes covered by a cell wall composed of several
layers. Elementary bodies enter into cells by phagocytosis. Vacuole formed
around him. Within 8 hours of elementary bodies grown to the size of the
initial weight from 0.8 to 1.5 microns. This form is also referred to as the
reticular body, the cell contents are less dense than the elementary body, 4x
RNA levels more than DNA and are not infectious.
